So how did it start? We're not just wheel guys: we're car guys. Project RSR Mustang was the answer to our obsession. Working with numerous different vendors, Project RSR Mustang is going to be one beast of a ride.
Picking up the 5.0
Our hearts were racing as it finally became a reality. Let the project begin.Time for a drop
Better sooner then later. This is a crucial upgrade. We're looking to increase the aerodynamics; with the 5.0 being lowered, less air will be going underneath the car which in turn creates a better outcome for wind drag on a car. Lowering it properly will also improve traction and handling. Since we're going to be taking it to the track, when the car is lowered, it's new center of gravity reduces the risk of rolling it over. Additional stiffness is desired by some (including us). And of course, when you put the wheels on, it looks great.
Eibach has hooked us up. Here's a before and after picture of the 5.0.
Not even a week after we got it, the Mustang went from Stock to Dropped.
The tires are in
We opted to go with the 21" wheels and tires. The tires will be the Vredestein 265/30ZR21's for the front and 305/25ZR21's for the rear. Definitely need the ZR rating for the track. Why 21's? The 21 inch tires have a shorter and stiffer sidewall which reduces the flexibility of it and increases performance. You get better handling in the curves; the steering feels firmer and more reliable as you're tackling those curves on the track.
Stay tuned...
